Bermuda Participates in Kiwanis One Day
by NEDK on 10/28/18

A contingent from the Kiwanis Club of St George took advantage of fine weather for their participation in “Kiwanis One Day”. The day is marked by Kiwanis organizations around the world, during which as many members as possible perform services.
The members from Kiwanis St George selected the children’s playground at Mullet Bay Park, in Wellington, St George, for a clean-up. Some of the members taking part are shown in the photo, from left to right: Rose Douglas, Peri Trott, Gary Kent-Smith, and Marie Kent-Smith.
Equipped with bags and gloves from Keep Bermuda Beautiful, the Kiwanians tackled the playground and at the end of the exercise they had collected bags of refuse, cans and bottles.
Kiwanis St George spokesman Vice President Daron Lowe explained that since the overall theme of Kiwanis is “serving the children of the world” a clean-up of a facility used by children was appropriate.
“Children need to have a safe and clean place in which to play”, Mr. Lowe added, “and after Kiwanis One Day” we are confident that the Mullet Bay Children’s playground meets that requirement”.
